Style Liberation: Eva's Style Transformation

#client Eva – “I feel AMAZING”

I was very frustrated because I would love so much colour and I didn't realise it, that I wore a lot of black. I grew up with older sisters and a very stylish dad from Europe, so I was always looking at their fashion and wanting hand-me-down clothes. I love your clothes, give them to me.

So I would often see their style, but when I would wear it, it wasn't me. Even though I felt like, "Oh, my sisters wear this. I feel special."

I decided to make a change because my health was not so great, and I'd put on an excessive amount of weight and found it very hard to change and try and be healthy again. So I did have surgery and it was life-changing, and it also helped me refocus on myself. I'm very much a giver, and if I need something done, I just do it myself. So it was a changing point to look at me, and my husband often would say, "You need to look after you. Put you a priority. Make you a priority so that you have got to give, that energy to give."

Now I feel very confident in putting together an outfit, looking at my style personalities. I have a few and looking at my colour. Colour really affects me. When I would wear bold colours that weren't in my palette previously, to doing Style Liberation, they were bold and beautiful colours, but they just didn't sit well on me. Now, when I wear a colour that is within my palette, oh my gosh. I have confidence.

The biggest compliment I've received, now, I've been married to my husband for 20 years. He's not a compliment giver, and I put a pair of jeans and a button-up linen shirt on the other day, and he just went, "Oh Eva. You look fabulous." And that just made me go, "Oh." It stopped me dead in my tracks because I would often ask, "Do I look all right?" I wasn't even fishing for a compliment.
